You know all the negative effects of too much screen time, but you just seem to keep on opening up the apps.

using the brick or locking yourself out of the apps isn't the solution...

That's just a bandaid on the symptom of a larger problem.

There's a reason you keep reaching for your phone - you're searching for dopamine, or you're distracting yourself, or maybe you're procrastinating.

But there's more to changing your scrolling habit than just interrupting the pattern.

We must carve new mental pathways and create a new solution, instead of just removing an old coping mechanism - or you'll find yourself spending too much time doomscrolling again soon.

By addressing the root cause of your need for scrolling, we'll solve the problem at the source and prevent it from happening in the future.

We do this by using the P.A.U.S.E. method:

P - Perceive - get really honest with yourself about your current actions, and set your new direction. Discernment and Goal Setting.

A - Adjust - practice personalized mindfulness techniques to change your state. Use nervous system tools to bring yourself back to centre.

U - Uncover & Understand - bring to light the triggers for reactive behavior, and keep asking why (no saying "I just always do this")

S - Stillness - begin or continue an accessible meditation practice, and slow down enough to observe your inner experience.

E - Expand - increase your capacity, so you can keep your cool and be responsive (instead of reactive) even when life gets stressful

Social media isn't the bad guy.

There are a ton of benefits of being this connected and having this much free access to information and inspiration. So as much as I love nature, I don't recommend you throw away your smartphone and go live off-grid in the woods.

And these apps are designed to hook you in and keep you scrolling.

You can strengthen your focus and resolve so that you don't get sucked in with practical mindfulness tools and some practice.

You have the power to change your behavior at any time, and with every action you are voting for who you want to be.
